People put names on images to identify what’s in an image or to provide a note to the owner. You can add text to a photo using Photoshop’s text tool. Figure 5-14 shows a photo with text added.

Here’s how to add text to an image in Photoshop:

1. **Click the text tool in the Tools panel and press T on the keyboard or choose Edit** ⇒ **Text**.
2. **Click inside the image to place the text cursor and then type a name or other desired text.**
3. **Press Enter (Return).**

The text appears on the image. Use the mouse to resize the text and make other changes to the text. For example, you can change the font size, color, position, and so on

You can usually edit multiple files at once, and you can even export your image files from Photoshop Elements for further editing with the professional version.

Photoshop Elements does not have all the features of the full Photoshop version but provides an easy way to edit your images and an intuitive, user-friendly experience. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to use Photoshop Elements.

Save

Photoshop Elements uses the Adobe Save feature to store your work. When you open a file in the program, you’ll see the Save icon at the bottom of the screen. Click on this icon to save a file with a name that you’d like.

To see the name of a file stored on your computer, click on the file in the file list and you’ll see the file name at the top of the screen.

You can also right-click a photo in the image list to save a copy of the photo to your computer.

Place

Place is how you move and resize an image. When an image is selected, click on the Place icon on the top of the screen.

You can then click and drag the image to a new position on the screen. You can stretch, shrink, rotate, mirror, and flip your image at any time.

Photoshop Elements allows you to add layers to each image you work with. These layers allow you to work on parts of the photo separately. This feature will be used in the next few sections to help you to navigate your image easily.

You can add a layer to a photo by clicking on the image and then going up to Add Layer from the tools menu.

You can also access the Layers panel from the place tool by clicking on the existing layer.

You can move a layer by clicking on the layer and dragging it around the image, and you can stretch a layer by clicking and dragging a corner of the layer.

You can delete a layer by going up to the layers menu and selecting “delete layer” and clicking on the trash can icon.

Rotate

To rotate an image, use the rotate tool. Click on the tool on the tool bar at the bottom of the screen, then click on the image you want to rotate.

When you click and drag the tool, the image should begin to spin. To control the rotation of the image, rotate the tool or click and drag the tool.

Contributions from the Sidney M. Wolfe National Institute on Aging will help sharpen the focus on major health needs in the aging U.S. population. The five-year project on Neighborhood and Population Health: Innovations through Aging Networks (NPAN) will: 1) explore best practices in designing, implementing, and sustaining comprehensive neighborhood-based community health improvement projects in diverse populations of older adults, and 2) evaluate the contributions of the structures, processes, and infrastructure of the aging network to the successes of these efforts. NPAN addresses major health problems in the elderly that are related to the physical, social, and psychological environments in which older adults live. Specific research strategies are to 1) conduct an evaluation study of innovative and effective aging networks and of the links between networks and their networks and communities; and 2) conduct an assessment of the role of the aging networks in the community health improvement programs that are most promising. The project will integrate insights from research, practice, policy and management, and learnings from ongoing collaboration between the Institute on Aging, the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute of Nursing Research. The project will be conducted in major U.S. cities using novel methods of collecting and analyzing data. These methods include: 1) the multi-level, multimethod, multi-source method of data collection used in the on-going NSF-funded NYC HANES-II; 2) the use of longitudinal data for measuring the impact of aging networks and for examining the impact of an aging network on its network; 3) the aggregation of existing data sources; 4) the use of specialized software and statistical methods; 5) the use of telephone and web surveys as alternative modes of data collection; 6) the testing of models that use the NSF-funded underwriting theory of social capital to explain links between aging networks and their networks and communities; and 7) the use of innovative methodological approaches such as dynamic network analysis, multilevel analysis and multi-source analysis. The results will be used to design strategies for the enhancement of existing aging network infrastructure, and the development of new networks and networks of networks that are appropriate for specific communities with particular health needs and resources.Marge Fisher

At its January board meeting, the Board of Regents will hold its annual meeting to discuss the University of Texas System’s Fiscal Year 2019 proposed budget.

The governor’s proposed budget for the UT system for Fiscal Year 2019 is $400 million. The board may vote on the 2019 budget on a date to be determined, but the budget must be adopted by Feb. 1, 2017.Q: Differentiation from multiplication by an algebraic number I have always been puzzled by the fact that $$f(x)=x^k$$ is a differentiable function but $$g(x)=x^k$$ is not. I don’t even really see the underlying reason: are they both univocally determined by the algebraic number$x$? A: A function$f$is differentiable at a point$x$if and only if$\lim_{x\to x}f(x)=f(x)$. Any algebraic function (i.e., rational function) is continuous, and the limit of an algebraic function is always the same algebraic function. So, every function that is algebraic is differentiable. By contrast, a function$g$is differentiable at a point$x$if and only if the derivative$g'(x)$exists. An algebraic function need not have a derivative at all. A: But$f\$ is also surjective…

The contribution of different characteristics of self-stigma to mental illness-related stigmas in individuals with psychosis.
Evidence suggests that self-stigma is a key characteristic of psychosis and has been shown to contribute to poorer mental health outcomes and higher levels of service use. However, the influence of different characteristics of self-stigma on mental illness-related stigmas (MIRS) in people with psychosis remains unclear. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between different characteristics of self-stigma and MIRS in people with psychosis. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted with 221 participants with a diagnosis of psychosis. Using structural equation modelling (SEM), a model of self-stigma, mental illness-related
